Violent Soho’s Eight Beer and Band Pairings Perfect For Spring Break Partying

Aw yes, Spring Break. The time of year when the weather starts to heat up and your overly packed brains begin to power down. Whether you’re headed to the beaches or the city, it’s essential to not only have the perfect tunes to embrace your week of freedom but also the tastiest brews to bring along as well.

We mean, c’mon. Spring Break and beer go about as well together as 2am and cold pizza. Swim wear and sandals? Yeah, let’s go with that.

Anyways, in order to help couple the timeless tradition of bitchin’ tunes and ice cold cervezas, we called up our pal Michael Richards of Australia’s party-first, alt-rock heroes Violent Soho to help cater our list. Since we have to wait five more grueling days until his band’s grunge-tastic new album WACO is released, we figured it was the least he could do.

To check out Michael’s list, be sure to look below. Afterwards, if you haven’t already, make sure to pre-order WACO before it hits stores here.

1) Stone & Wood Pacific Ale & Blink 182′s Dude Ranch

One of Australia’s best beers and possibly one of the world’s greatest can only be matched on a sonic scale so legendary as the one and only Dude Ranch by Blink 182. You just want more and more and more and more.

2) Green Beacon Wayfarer & Title Fight’s Shed

A local Brisbane Brewery that has quickly become my second home. This one is heavy on the hops and tastes like gold. Drink to Title Fight’s Shed and then put it on constant repeat.

3) Sierra Nevada Pale Ale & The Drones’ Gala Mill

Here is a lovely heavy brew that you can drink slow… Then fast! Goes great with Whisky as well. Listen to this along to The Drones’ Gala Mill.

4) Budweiser & Black Flag’s My War

A classic American beer that goes with pretty much any of the classic punk records. Listen to Black Flag’s My War and rage all night. Pro tip: don’t touch that Bud Light shit.

5) The Grifter Bright Eye & Royal Headache’s High

Bloody tasty Sydney based session beer. An instant classic goes perfectly with Sydney rockers new classic record High by Royal Headache.

6) Modelo Lager & Black Lips’s Let It Bloom

My favourite Mexican beer for sure. It’s one of those beers that you want to smash immediately after getting burnt on some serious tequila. Grab a carton and listen to Black Lips’ Let It Bloom.

7) Coopers Sparkling Ale & DZ Deathrays’ Bloodstreams

Time to get shitfaced? Grab four or more tallies of this heavy brew and make your way over to your local park bench. Feel free to bring along a goon sack as well, but make sure you have a listen to DZ Deathrays’ Bloodstreams while you’re at it.

8) XXXX Gold & The Saint’s (I’m) Stranded

Tastes like Queensland for a very good reason. It’s a little piece of golden sunshine from Australia’s glorious unofficial capital for awesome shit. Personally approved by Mother Brisbane herself, this could only be correctly complimented by none other than the classic The Saints’ record, (I’m) Stranded. Special note, The Saints’ old rehearsal studio was right next to the brewery. That’s pretty darn spesh!
