Despite how hard it can be to endure, sometimes we need a little tough love in our lives. Be it from a mentor, significant other or parental figure, a firm push from a loved one might be what it takes to better ourselves.
Focusing on this concept for their latest heartfelt single “Labyrinth” is post-hardcore outfit Makari.
Opening up about ethereal tune, drummer Kevin Beljan says, “‘Labyrinth’ drops you into the mind of someone that believes we all have our own unique path, we too often romanticize the past, and even the sagest of guides only offer imperfect advice. You could call this a song about hard truths, but the band would say it’s about tough, honest love.”
Beljan adds, “With ‘Labyrinth’ and all our new music really, we dealt with questions of identity. When things change and life becomes stale, or worse, unbearable, we think of who we are, how we got here, the path behind us and the path still unfolding in front of us. We wanted to talk about that, and not as a guide, but as people still lost on their journey.”
