If this current pandemic has taught you anything it should be not to take things for granted. As you’ve probably seen first hand over the past few months, the world can be an evil place and you never know what’s going to happen next.

So what does that mean? Don’t be afraid to chase your dreams. If there’s a person you want to ask out, do it. If there’s a book you want to write, do it.

Preaching this exact idea and pushing fans to take risks via their inspirational single “9 Times Out Of 10″ is Canadian alternative band Rare Americans.

“[‘9 Times Out Of 10′ is] about taking risks, believing in yourself and actually committing to what you say you are going to do,” says frontman James Priestner about their infectious new track. “The chorus lyrics ‘You poor guys make bucket lists, Rare Americans we take fucking risks, it’s a different way to live’ is about putting yourself out there not just creating a bucket list or pipe dream but actually going after lofty goals and reaching them.”

Priestner adds, “Anyone can do anything they want to but it requires putting yourself out there and taking chances. The world can be a scary place, but to get to the place you vision for yourself, you can’t fear it. You have to know that you will fail sometimes, and then try again a different way.”

As for how the semi-cocky but 100% uplifting track came together, the outgoing vocalist said, “My brother Jared came to Vancouver for a writing trip and we ended up with four songs in two days, ‘9 Times Out of 10′ was one of them. The song had a bit of swagger to it in terms of lyrics – a little ‘braggadocios’ which we’d never done before and haven’t since this song!! It was fun, we didn’t take ourselves too seriously with it which was a good departure as a lot of our songs are about deeper subject matter.”

“This is a rally call to our fans that you can be who you want to be if you just believe in yourself and are willing to take risks,” he concludes, “like a true Rare American would.”
