If you can’t tell by now, we at The Noise are huge supporters of the groove metal act Volumes. After their second album No Sleep completely blew our minds, we have to admit that the Los Angeles based five-piece has undoubtedly caught our attention – and we think you better check them out.
Fronted by an uncommon pairing of two unclean vocalists, Volumes’ unique musical approach doesn’t end there. Just four tracks into their new record, you are hit with the memorizing sounds of “Better Half” which is an instrumental interlude they managed to seamlessly incorporate into their album. You may think doing that might take away from the album’s heaviness, but then you’d be wrong. This ridiculously talented metal act has perfected the skill of balancing some of the heaviest jam-packed tracks with other melodic heartfelt tunes. With that said, Volumes is a different breed and we are absolutely infatuated with everything they have to offer.
If you missed Volumes on this year’s Warped Tour, shame on you. Thankfully, you can redeem yourself. These metal up-and-comers will be hitting the road with Crown the Empire and Secrets near the end of summer. Be sure to check out the tour dates as this will be something you do not want to miss. Also, if you haven’t picked up No Sleep yet, do yourself a favor and go get it.
