Eat Your Heart Out Austin, TX: The Noise SXSW Official Recap

Now, before you call us out on it: Yes, we know South By Southwest officially ended last Sunday. However, what you need to understand is that after spending multiple days up until the wee hours of the morning to then turn around and trek on through the following day, we needed a little bit of time to recover.

So, finally feeling fresh and back to 100%, we’ve taken a few hours to relive all the weird and wonderful things we encountered out in Austin, Texas. To check out our video roundup with bands like State Champs, Citizen, Milk Teeth and more, watch our Hot Potato Philosophy video above. To experience our day-by-day recap, see our Instagram photo gallery below.

Day 1:

After landing in Austin late Tuesday night, we only had a few hours to fully embrace night one of SXSW. So naturally, we got our “Mad Tiger” on with New York’s zany Peelander-Z.

Day 2:

Forget anything that happened Wednesday during the day, our main focus was on our first Noise showcase of the week featuring Plague Vendor, Ho99o9, Wild Throne and more!

Don’t say we didn’t warn you because we totally did. Wild Throne was epic beyond belief.

Honestly, we have no idea how we made it out of Ho99o9′s set alive. Those dudes went hard! RIP to homeboy Mikey and his beat up ankle; we tried to tell him.

From the get go, Dallas’ Power Trip made it clear they weren’t there to impress industry peeps or any “social media gurus.” Instead, they just wanted to fuck some shit up with their closest friends. Mission accomplished. (Not pictured, Turnover and Citizen both crushed it with their sets right before Power Trip completely obliterated everything.)

Emotional, powerful and fast-paced, Sorority Noise brought on the best set of the day no doubt about it.

This was the closest we could get to seeing Deftones and we loved every second of it.

Just in case you didn’t know, the Hail The Sun guys always kill it. Props!

Day 4:

New Jersey’s Owel kicked off Noise showcase number two bright and early (12pm) with some sensational vibes and killer tones.

For this being their first time playing in the US, Milk Teeth definitely brought it and impressed the pants off of us. So rad!

Fan participation was a must during Forever Came Calling’s high-energy set.

Now begins the portion where our pal Joe Ortega and his much better photos take over.  (This is a picture of Knuckle Puck if you weren’t sure).
