Surprise: The Smashing Pumpkins Sign To Sumerian Records, Debut Two New Tracks

Adding to the non-stop list of things we never thought we’d see in 2020, 90′s icons The Smashing Pumpkins have just revealed their newest home at Sumerian Records.

Yes, you read that correctly. Billy Corgan and Co. are now signed to the same label as Asking Alexandria, Animals As Leaders, Sleeping With Sirens, Poppy and more.

As you can expect, Sumerian founder Ash Avildsen is pretty excited about his latest signing saying, “The Smashing Pumpkins are one of the most influential, iconic and timeless bands of all time. They’ve played a huge part in my life and I can say the same for so many others in the Sumerian family. This a colossal moment for the label but most importantly, it’s the dawn of a new decade of Smashing Pumpkins music.”

To help celebrate the big news, the band and label have teamed up to release not one but two new singles titled “Cyr” and “The Colour Of Love.”

Commenting on “Cyr” specifically and its futuristic feel, Corgan offered, “‘Cyr’ is dystopic folly. One soul against the world sort of stuff, set against a backdrop of shifting loyalties and sped up time. To me it stands as both hopeful and dismissive of what is and isn’t possible with faith.”
