Being As An Ocean Unleash “Play Pretend” From Upcoming Album ‘Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story’

After what feels like weeks of teasers and hints scattered all across social media, today Being As A Ocean has finally given fans what they’ve been looking for – news about their upcoming album Proxy: An A.N.I.M.O. Story.

Just announced this morning, the genre-bending post-hardcore act will be releasing their long-awaited follow up to 2017′s Waiting For Morning To Come September 13th.

In addition to the album news, the band has also shared their gripping lead single titled “Play Pretend.” Talking about the new multi-layered rock anthem, guitarist/clean vocalist Tyer Ross says, “Like our previous release ‘Alone’ this song came from one of those Being As An Ocean plus Zakk Cervini intensive 12-hour sessions that results in a monster flow of rock/metal vs. electronic production and energy. It encapsulates the whole spirit of Proxy in one go—all of the tricks, secrets, writing styles, tones and sounds that we found along the way all packed into one four-minute fight to the death.”

Ross went on to add, “From production to mix to master, this song is just uncompromising. I would have gone anywhere, gotten on any flight, worked any amount of hours to add more to this song. There are layers upon layers upon layers of guitars, samples, synths, sounds, vocals, bass, etc. Pair it with its sci-fi music video counterpart and you have a lights-off/sound-up experience that will get your heart rate pumping every single time.”
