Watch Punk Newcomers Playboy Manbaby Share Jazzercised Version Of ‘West Side Story’ In New “Last One Standing” Video (Noise Exclusive)

West Side Story aficionados, if you think this post is about you after somehow stumbling upon it with a random Google search, we’re here to tell you it most certainly is not. This post isn’t about feeling pretty, oh so pretty. It’s about a gruesome battle to the death between some savage street rats and Tempe, Arizona’s meanest bad news crew, Playboy Manbaby (okay, so they aren’t really the meanest and they’re actually a pretty good group of guys, but still, you know what we mean).

Doing their best to bring the iconic tale of two rival street gangs to 2017, Playboy Manbaby has put together a hilarious twist on the battle between The Jets and The Sharks via their new music video for “Last One Standing.” Now, instead of having us explain the wacky shenanigans the video has in store for viewers, we’ll let frontman Robbie Pfeffer take over instead.

“This video has been in the works for a long time,” Pfeffer explains. “I told Ryan [Riggs, video producer] that I wanted to do something that kind of was a play on West Side Story and then Ryan hooked us up with Albert [Cattafi, choreographer and world renowned dancer] who spent a bunch of nights teaching us how to dance and it ended up turning out way better than I expected.”

Pfeffer continued to add, “Instead of making music for like a month, we just met up in a ballet studio. It was very out of our comfort zone but it was pretty fun at the same time. We shot it all in this crazy warehouse thing in Glendale, AZ and, thanks to everyone involved, we ended up with a really neat final product. Our previous videos are kind of lovably low-budget looking and this one looks like a real movie, it’s pretty wild to us.”
