While we understand Halloween ended for most of you “normal people” two weeks ago, for us here at The Noise, we’re looking to keep the creepy going as long as possible. And in order to do just that, we’re teaming up with former Mistakes frontwoman Lauren Hudson to debut her brand new dark pop solo project Eeri.

Branching away from her former PVRIS-like band to expand her sound and express herself freely, the soft-spoken vocalist touched on her newest musical outlet telling The Noise, “As a songwriter, I wanted to push the envelope more and create a project that truly represents me. There can be certain limitations with being in a band. I grew up wanting to play in bands because I could relate more to the women in rock than the archetypal pop artist. But as an adult woman, I have come to learn that there is a liberation in standing alone and saying this is me take it or leave it.”

Striving for independence and putting musical matters into her own hands, the spirited songstress has released a brand new song titled “Blackwater.” Explaining the subject matter behind the sinister new single which can be described as Halsey meets In This Moment, Hudson says, “’Blackwater’ is one of those songs that is subtly tackling a deeper subject matter but on the surface presents itself more vaguely as an attraction to darkness.”

To check out Eeri’s debut single and its accompanying music video which is explained as “a look at a sort of disturbing mental experience the character is having brought to life,” be sure to look below. Afterward, for more from Eeri, head here
