Brand New Share Both Good And Bad News Regarding The Rest Of Their 2016

Depending on what kind of Brand New fan you are, you’re probably about to be either extremely excited or incredibly bummed. Now, instead of dilly-dallying and diving deeper into the matter at hand, we’re just going to jump right in.

Alright, so let’s go ahead and start off with the bad news first. No, good news. No, bad news. Yes, bad news? Okay, bad news it is. Here we go, get ready. After nearly breaking the internet with promises of new music, Brand New will NOT be releasing a new album later this year.

There, we did it (that was just as tough for you to read as it was for us to write, promise). According to the band, “While there exists a collection of songs that, right now, some would call fit to be an album, to us it is not complete enough, refined enough, or edited thoroughly enough to be something we would call finished or essential. Brand New will not release a record in 2016.”

Okay, so how about that good news, right? Thankfully, due to the lack of a new Brand New album, the longtime emo crew has decided to increase the excitement for their upcoming headlining tour with The Front Bottoms and Modern Baseball by announcing that they will be playing their entire The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me album in full.

“We have been reminded that this fall will mark the tenth year since the release of our third album, The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me. It is an important record and piece of work to us, and one that ten years later we still use as a measuring post with which we compare the music we make now. So we have decided that on the upcoming fall tour, which begins on October 13, we will be performing the record, each night, in its entirety. It will be included within a larger set of songs, and will not exclude us playing music from other albums, or new music, nightly.”

While yes, that was certainly a whirlwind of emotions, we have to say getting to see 2005′s The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me played in full in place of hearing new Brand New is a pretty fair trade off.
